Praying for Refuge
As we hear news of tragedies facing refugees, asylees, and immigrants around the world, we offer this prayer and hold all those suffering in our hearts. “May your grief and loss be assuaged. May the hard road you travel include spaces of rest and security. May you know your inherent worth and dignity every day of the journey.” Read the full prayer on WorshipWeb

The path
I was talking with a close friend who said he had been failing at spirituality for a while. This confuses me. You cannot fail at spirituality. Sometimes you take a different loop in the path, sometimes you take a rest from your journey, and sometimes you can be lost, but you can never fail. Spirituality is a journey where we get chances to relearn and to grow more all the time. Spirituality is not a destination.

This song was a lullaby for my family and I am grateful for the ability to sing it to my own children with Unitarian Universalist words.

Malala Turns 18, And Opens A School For Syrian Refugee Girls : The Two-Way : NPR
It is hard to believe that Malala is just now an adult when she has been contributing to the world for so long now. This is a message of hope. One day all people will be seen as people.

Adopting A Buddhist Ritual To Mourn Miscarriage, Abortion : NPR
” When parents lose a child, there are rituals to mark their grief — holding funerals, sitting shiva, bringing casseroles. But when that loss happens before birth, it often isn’t marked. Sometimes, it’s barely even mentioned. It’s different in Japan, which has a traditional Buddhist ceremony that some Americans are adopting as their own.”
This article describes a Buddhist ceremony giving closure and relief to the grieving.

Our Religion – Quest for Meaning
http://www.questformeaning.org/quest-article/our-religion/
” In this homily from the CLF worship at the UUA General Assembly in 2009, Jane writes a primer on Unitarian Universalism, with my favorite message that beauty and fun are really important to UUs. —LD”
Hope this explains more about our religion for those who are unsure and gives a boost for those who are.
