The Christian roots of Unitarian and Universalist ideas go back to the first centuries of Christianity. Today we will watch a presentation by Sarah Lewis briefly over-viewing all of our past.

Our services are Sundays at 11 a.m. at the Progressive Women’s Association Uptown Event Center, 305 Washington Ave. in downtown Clarksburg, behind the Courthouse. There are classes for children and adults 10 to 10:45 am, and a coffee gathering before the service. More about us.

We would love to have you come worship with us.

Children are welcome. There is childcare and an activity for young children during the service.

The building is wheelchair accessible, with an accessible restroom. You may park on the south side of the building, which is marked reserved for the PWA.

We live out these Principles within a “living tradition” of wisdom and spirituality, drawn from sources as diverse as science, poetry, scripture, and personal experience. These are the six sources our congregations affirm and promote:” Where do African Proverbs fit into our sources? Cricket Hall will answer this question on Sunday.

Sunday, October 8, 2017: Good Humor

I tend to be too serious in the best of times. Disasters, natural and human, tend to make us all worried and serious. It’s hard to keep seeing and dealing with problems as we need to without falling into being too critical or despairing. There will be some humor this Sunday, and some ideas about good humor as a spiritual practice.

Due to unforeseen circumstances (mostly good ones), Lisa will be doing the previously announced service on Good Humor on October 8. This Sunday, John Hall will give a lesson about the history of the seven principles.

We gather to worship, our hearts alive with hope that here we will be truly seen, that here we will be welcomed into the garden of this community, where the simple and the elegant, the fluted and frilled, the shy and the dramatic complement one another and are treasured. May we know that here, each contributes in their way to the beauty of the whole. Come, let us worship together, all genders, sexualities, politics, clappers and non-clappers, progressive or conservative, may we root ourselves in the values of this faith: compassion and courage, transcendence, justice and transformation.
