There is a difference between environmentalism and environmental justice. Check out this video from Alex Kapitan, the UUA’s Commit2Respond
What is Commit2Respond?
Commit2Respond is a coalition of Unitarian Universalists and other people of faith and conscience working for climate justice.
Unitarian Universalists and other people of faith and conscience have been on the frontlines of environmental justice for decades. United in collective action, connected through partnership, we will change the world.
We are diverse in spiritual belief, yet united in faith that a better world is possible and that our collective power can create change.

Earlier this week, we posted about the importance of play. Coloring is an important part of play. I just colored this mandala with the colorfy app. It was very soothing.
So I found an article by Rev. Dr. Cynthia Landrum titled Chalices, Doodling, and Meditation about her spiritual practice of coloring and drawing. Here is a quote: ” Spiritual practice is still not an everyday thing for me, but during the last year I’ve made one hundred Zentangle chalices. I find it remarkable that restricting the format—always a chalice, and always in a box or in a mandala—doesn’t make me feel that my creativity is restricted.”
Hope you enjoy.

“What’s amazing is how evolution—which is as practical and ruthless as you can get—seems to love playfulness.
It’s because play develops your mind and keeps it sharp.”

For me play was something I wasn’t really good at, but I have learned that that is the point. It is just for fun and there is no “good at it”. So, get out there and play!

In this day and age it is important to educate ourselves and our children about sex and sexuality no matter their age.
“A parent may consider their live-away college freshman a newly minted adult, but, biologically, teens remain in adolescence until about age 25. While their brains are still developing, they are more likely to take risks, use poor impulse control, and be self-conscious. These are all risk factors for unhealthy sexual decisions.”

This app provides you with the principles alway ready at your finger tips as well as links to more in depth writings about the principles. It also includes readings for services. But my favorite part is the chalice. You can actually sit down with your phone, light a chalice, and take five minutes to meditate or pray. In our busy world, taking time out is a gift.
Remember that taking care of you and your soul is an important part of taking care of the world.

This app allows you to connect to other Unitarian Universalists. It gives multiple chalice lightings. The daily compass can give great insight. Sometimes we all feel alone; it’s nice to know that there are others who share our faith and values and care what is going on with us.
